We've launched a free school uniform swap, helping local families kit their children out for the new school year without the cost.
Running right through to the end of August, the swap is open to everyone in the local area. Families can drop in to donate good-quality, clean uniform, shoes and school bags - or simply come along and take what they need. There is no charge to donate or collect, and no appointment is needed.
Every item donated and rehomed is one less piece of clothing going to landfill - and with thousands of tonnes of textiles discarded across the UK each year, community swaps like this one offer a simple, practical way for people to make a difference locally. By choosing to swap rather than bin or buy new, families in Stratford can reduce waste while saving money at the same time.
The swap covers uniform for all local schools and is already proving popular since opening. Items accepted include clothing in good, clean condition, footwear, and school bags suitable for all ages.
Felicity Luxmoore, Stratford Town Trust Community Hub Manager said: “We know that school uniform costs can really add up, especially over the summer. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for families to either pass on what they no longer need or find something for the year ahead — and it’s brilliant to see how many people have already got involved.”
The uniform swap is running from the Community Hub at Venture House, Avenue Farm Industrial Estate, Stratford-upon-Avon during the following hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Both drop-offs and collections are welcome during these times. The swap will continue until Friday 28 August 2026.
