Foundation House is launching a weekly winter warm hub to provide a warm and safe space for people to use this winter- including access to organisations offering practical support and a range of free, fun activities.

Warm hubs are warm, safe, welcoming places open to all. From 1st December, people are invited to drop in every Thursday morning 9.30am - 12.30pm and enjoy some free refreshments and company. The session is free to attend and there is no need to book.

Fran Nibbs, Community Hub Manager said: "With rising energy bills, we're pleased to offer a welcoming space for our community to come together to keep out of the cold, relax and have some fun. We know that this coming winter is a worrying time for many so accessing organisations who can advise on energy saving will be a source of practical help. We're also looking for volunteers to help us run our warm winter hub so please get in touch if you'd like to get involved and make a difference to your community."

Can you help at our Winter Warm Hub?

The volunteer role:

We are looking for volunteers to welcome people to the Hub and be a reassuring friendly face every Thursday from 9.30am - 12.30pm.

Each week, support/advice organisations such as Act on Energy, Foodbank and Orbit will come give advice and there will be fun activities such as Tai Chi, arts and crafts, wreath making, chair-based exercise classes and more - these will be run by other individuals/groups, we just need to facilitate.

As a volunteer your role will include:

  • Set up for the sessions
  • Meeting & greeting
  • Refreshments
  • Taking part in and helping with activities
  • Talking and listening to the attendees
  • Planning the sessions
  • Helping with any admin or getting resources ready
  • Collecting feedback from the group
  • Signposting to other support organisations

The Winter Warm Hub will run until March 2023.

If you're interested in helping with this fantastic project which we hope will really help the most vulnerable this winter, please talk to Fran: fran.nibbs@foundationhouse.co.uk / 01789 207106
